Softwood
Hardwoods/Softwoods
Hardwoods are denser than softwoods. It has to do with the anatomy of the deciduous trees they come from, which at A. Boilard Sons
includes oak, poplar, and maple.
Softwoods are closed-grain woods from evergreen trees. Primarily used for framing and construction, softwoods are divided into
three basic grades: appearance grade, used for flooring and siding; factory and shop grades, re manufactured wood for use in
windows and doors; and dimension lumber, used where strength is more important than appearance, such as in framing.
